Issue Two Update

I don’t know if more than a few people have found this site, although thanks to RSS those that have might see this. I still am unsure of how to really make it something that’s not a plain blog, but I haven’t really put that much thought into it (quite a heavy teaching load this semester).

Anyway, I am waiting on a few more reviews for the second issue. Hopefully after this is out, it will be a more regular publication. If anyone would like to write a review, please contact me. In addition, I’m starting to get some inquiries about fiction, so I suppose I should start compiling it for issue three. If you have questions, please let me know.

Just so there is some actual content to this post, I have here a pdf of an essay Ben Marcus wrote in Harper’s:

Ben Marcus - “Why experimental fiction threatens to destroy publishing, Jonathan Franzen, and life as we know it” (Harper’s Magazine, October, 2005)

This was written in response to Franzen’s shitty attack on experimental writing (I’ll see if I can track down a link for those that want more context or the original essay to peruse). Although Marcus is more equanimous than myself on the matter. Anyway, I created the pdf for my students, so I figured I’d share it here too.

Building the site

So, I’ve finally got some time to work on this in earnest, and a number of people have suggested doing this as a blog, so…

Issue two is in the works, and you can find issue one by clicking here.

This all should look a lot different very soon.
